Folks, it's that time of the year.
Christmas isn't felt until your ears tingle with jingles, or sweet, festive spices permeate all rooms, and your Great Aunt sends her traditional, homemade fruit cake. For us, the Christmas jingles begin on Halloween night when the synthetic, snow plastered tree is showcased in our living room. The flood gates though opened tonight, and Christmas became apparent as I surprisingly found myself in TJMaxx salvaging maternity clothes to compensate Amazon's delivery mistake resulting in a splurge of gift purchases for my beloveds. What brings about the jolliness of Christmas for you?
Did you know only God can praise Himself? For only the Spirit of God that can praise and confess Jesus as Lord and Savior. Our carnal minds can't comprehend such spiritual truths because our flesh is enmity to God (Romans 8:7). In the book of first John chapter four verses two through three we see this to be true: "This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world."
I feel the enthrallment of Christmas upon giving to those around me better than decorations and Christmas jingles and holiday cakes, could this be the cause of our justification for celebrating this originally Pagan holiday? Where ever your convictions bring you, make this December 25th a day of giving.
